Hotel Figueroa is proud to offer the A.I.R. (Artist in Residence) program. Throughout the year, a chosen artist lives and works at the hotel and contributes a piece to the hotel's permanent art collection.

Hotel Figueroa's first artist in resident is Estevan Oriol, a Mexican-American photographer and director based in Los Angeles, California. His work is currently featured in Hotel Figueroa's lobby. During his residency, he will be working on three new photography books.

Estevan’s work has been featured in numerous magazines and publications, often reflecting Los Angeles urban culture. He is also a renowned celebrity photographer whose past subjects have ranged from Al Pacino to Snoop Dogg. His work has been exhibited in the Smithsonian Center for Latino Initiatives, the Mesa Contemporary Art Center, the Petersen Automotive Museum and the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Estevan is also known for his partnership with the acclaimed artist Mister Cartoon and their crew Soul Assassins.

From May 6–July 6, Estevan is a featured artist in Beyond the Streets, the premier exhibition of graffiti, street art and beyond. Other artists featured include Futura 2000, Mister Cartoon, Jenny Holzer, Eddie Martinez, Retna & Shepard Fairey. It is a groundbreaking multimedia showcase of paintings, sculpture, photography, installations and more throughout 40,000+ sq ft of industrial indoor and outdoor space.

At this time, the residency is by invitation-only, though it may consider open submissions in the future as the program evolves.
