Sophie Kipner
Sophie Kipner is an artist from Topanga, California. Her most recent series of portraits, DONTLIFTUPDONTLOOKDOWN – in which she uses blind contouring, the technique of not lifting the pen or looking at the canvas to draw her subjects – premiered in September 2015 and has since been shown across Southern California and profiled in Los Angeles Magazine, The Huffington Post, Flaunt Magazine, ArteFuse, and Conde Nast’s The Scene. Commissioned and exhibited works from this series have been sold into private collections and commercial properties around the world and have been auctioned off at UCLA’s 2018 IoES (Institute of the Environment and Sustainability) Gala, and at Help Refugees in 2017, launched in partnership with artist Ai WeiWei, Paddle8, and The Cob Gallery in London. Sophie currently works full-time on commissions and new works from her studio in Venice, California.
