Story

Since its inception in 1926, Hotel Figueroa has been a hub for social progress and creative endeavors in Downtown Los Angeles. In homage to both its feminist roots and ongoing support of the arts, the hotel showcases the work of L.A.’s most compelling female artists and culture-makers, ranging from emerging to internationally established talents.
Spanning the mediums of photography, painting, mixed media, sculpture, sound and performance, these contemporary works encompass a wide array of singular pieces, from Whitney Hubbs’ starkly arresting photography to the vividly colorful paintings of Sarah Awad. Each was curated to complement one another and the hotel’s redesign, resulting in a cohesive collection that reflects the dazzling breadth of talent in today’s thriving Los Angeles art scene, whose epicenter is DTLA. Rotating exhibitions and a variety of creative programming supplement Hotel Figueroa’s enduring artistic legacy.
